KINGSTON

proudly serving the community of Kingston and surrounding areas including Thousand Islands and Prince Edward County in Ontario

Prostate Cancer Foundation Canada - Prostate Cancer Support Oakville Mississauga

HOW WE CAN HELP

Diagnosed with prostate cancer? Exploring your treatment options? Looking for information or support?

You are not alone. We would like to help you. We welcome the recently diagnosed, those in the midst of prostate cancer treatment, and any family members seeking information and support.

We offer fellowship and guidance through personal experiences. We have made the journey. We can help.

And through our affiliation with Prostate Cancer Foundation Canada, we provide access to prostate cancer information, resources, support groups, webinars, and more.

A new support for Kingston-area patients

Prostate Cancer Foundation Canada is welcoming Kingston and region individuals who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer, or are facing the diagnosis process, to join us to take advantage of our resources and experience.

We’ll co-ordinate our initial Kingston activities from Ottawa, where the Prostate Cancer Support Ottawa group has been active for more than 30 years. This will permit us to offer both confidential one-on-one and group sharing support formats, which have proven to provide unique assistance to individuals, their partners and family members seeking informative and helpful advice about all aspects of prostate cancer and its treatment.

We hope to be able to implement a full program in Kingston before long; until then, you’re more than welcome to attend any of the monthly meeting and discussion forums presented by Prostate Cancer Support Ottawa.  These typically cover the myriad treatments available from medical professionals and researchers in urological surgery, radiation oncology, androgen deprivation therapy and active surveillance.

It’s important to note that as an all-volunteer organization, we do not provide, nor are we a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.  We are in every sense a support group, able to provide answers to your questions from people who have experienced prostate cancer firsthand.

Please visit our website at pcsottawa.ca for more information on what a prostate cancer support group does and why joining us would be a positive step for you.  Call and leave us a message anytime on our 24/7 support line, 613-828-0762.  Ask for our easy-to-read brochure or ask for one of our PCSO Peer Support Team members to contact you, we’re always available.

Local Suppot Group

LOCAL SUPPORT GROUP

Support groups bring together people who are going through, or have already gone through, the experience of being diagnosed with prostate cancer, navigating treatment options, and managing the side effects that may accompany treatment.

We provide fellowship, understanding and hope to prostate cancer patients and their families through open honest discussion and sharing in a group setting, or one-on-one support as appropriate.

We provide a forum for medical experts and other healthcare professionals to inform us about treatment options, new developments and recommended lifestyle activities to enhance recovery and quality of life.

Prostate Cancer Support Ottawa invites you to join their meetings on the 3rd Thursday of each month (except July and August) at 6:15 pm.

Meetings are held at the Maplesoft Jones Centre at 1500 Alta Vista Dr., Ottawa.

Meetings are always free and spouses and partners are always welcome.

Please email info@pcsottawa.ca to confirm if you will be attending in person, or register to attend virtually by Zoom by clicking on this link.
